2023-24 NPFL Teams

The 2023-24 season will feature 16 top teams from the previous season and 4 promoted teams from the Nigeria National League, comprising a total of 20 teams.

Promoted Teams are:

  1. Kano Pillars, and
  2. Heartland
  3. Katsina United.
  4. Sporting Lagos

This season saw the debut of Sporting Lagos in the Nigeria Professional Football League. Thanks to their promotion, they will become the first team to be promoted after just one season.

Sporting Lagos will replace the teams demoted to the Nigeria National League, including Wikki Tourists F.C., Nasarawa United F.C., El-Kanemi Warriors F.C., and Dakkada.

NPFL clubs agreement on the start date and League structure.

The Nigeria Professional Football League, also known as NPFL, has announced the start date and format for the 2023-2024 season.

At a recent meeting between the NPFL board and club owners in Abuja on August 3rd, it was agreed that all 20 teams would play a full season, rather than a shortened version as in the 2022-2023 season. Enyimba International FC, current league champions, will compete against 19 other teams for the title.

Fans from around the world will be able to watch the matches live on the NPFL live app. It was also reported that the prize money for the league winners has increased from 100 million to 150 million for the upcoming season.
