Role purpose
Six Rivers Africa is looking for a Boat Driver who will be responsible for driving the boat on protection patrols with game scouts, training junior boat captains, and maintenance of the boat and engine. When transporting people whether staff or others, he will ensure their safety by adhering to all the boating safety rules, weather and marine conditions as well as the Six Rivers Africa rules and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Always ensure punctuality for patrol or any other appointments.
- Ensure safety while operating and navigating the boat.
- Look after all company property issued individually and the team, while in your custody.
- Following all maritime regulations and guidelines of Tanzania to ensure the safety of passengers.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on the boat.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Coordinate and plan patrols and other activities with the supervisor.
- Report and mechanical issues timeously.
- Report any accidents or incidents as soon as practical.
- Adhere to boat service schedules.
- Maintain the boat in a state of cleanliness.
- Assist and be involved in any of the general chores of the through chores in the base, for example, collection of firewood and fetching of water, etc.
- Ensuring that the Organization Boat is always parked in areas that are safe.
- Record accurate and clear records as required of all spare parts and fuel used for the boat and send a report to the office as required.
- Logbooks should be filled and signed by the boating driver daily. All fields in the fuel order books should be filed by the Boat driver.
- The Boat driver should sign over the logbook when he is handing over the Boat should a logbook be lost, the boat driver will be held accountable.
- Ensure that the Boat is driven with care and responsibility for its longevity. Reckless and fast driving will not be tolerated.
- Immediately report to the supervisor any damage to the boat (within 3 hours), and the boating driver will bear the cost for any abnormal wear or damage due to negligence.
- Recommend safety precautions to the Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid boat operator’s license.
- Having first aid skills will be an added advantage.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must have no prior history of violations related to safeguarding the welfare of humans and wildlife.
