The city of Dar es Salaam is located between Latitude 6 to 7 degrees and Longitude between 39.45 degrees in the East and 39 degrees in the West, South of the Equator and West, South and North. The city borders the Coastal Region, on the East side it borders the Indian Ocean, where there is a beach with a length of km. 124 which starts from Pemba Mnazi to Mbweni.
The city of Dar es Salaam has an area of approximately 1,800 square kilometers; of which, 1,350 square kilometers is land area including eight islands in the Indian Ocean and 450 square kilometers is sea water area. The area of the city of Dar es Salaam is equal to 0.2 percent of the area of the entire country which is 881,289 square kilometers.
This city has a tropical coastal climate, with an average temperature of 25 to 33 degrees centigrade and an average rainfall of 1,000 milliliters in two autumn seasons which are the months of October – December and Spring which starts in the months of March – May. Most of the time, the city is dominated by the winds blowing from the sea coming from the South, East and North of the Indian Ocean.
