Quality Control Supervisor – Welding & NDE

Location Tanzania (Residential)

12-Month Contract (Renewable)

Responsibilities

  • Support staff and contractors to ensure timely and budgeted delivery of the pipeline and associated facilities.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching for local personnel, coordinating with training providers for effective performance monitoring.
  • Implement and promote safe work practices on project sites.
  • Review contractors’ documents and procedures (WPS, NDE, QCPs, SOPs) for compliance with project specifications.
  • Monitor compliance with welding document deliverables and data.
  • Conduct welding compliance audits and surveillance reviews as needed.
  • Oversee and report on third-party NDE inspection services, ensuring certification and qualifications are valid.
  • Report on welding performance against quality KPIs.
  • Maintain databases and records for welding/NDE reports and audits.
  • Review and act on contractors’ QC welding inspection reports.
  • Ensure proper storage and monitoring of site welding consumables.
  • Confirm availability and approval of WPSs for field production.

Qualifications

  • Certified welding or NDE inspector by an internationally recognised scheme (CSWIP, AWS, PCN, BGAS, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 12 years of welding inspection experience, with at least 8 years as a QA/QC welding or NDE supervisor/quality engineer in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance/engineering and knowledge of quality tools/methodologies.
  • 8 years of QC experience in cross-functional oil & gas pipeline project teams supporting engineering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Skilled in analysing welding and NDE metrics to report accurate KPIs and identify non-compliance trends to the Quality Lead and project management team.
