The Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) is a government agency responsible for the development, management, and operation of public airports across Tanzania. Established in 1999, TAA plays a crucial role in maintaining the country’s air transport infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable air travel for both passengers and cargo. The authority oversees major airports including Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro International Airport, and other regional airports, ensuring that they meet international safety standards and are equipped to handle growing traffic.

Position: Aircraft marshaller (10 position)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Marshal the aircraft and ensure that engine start-up signals are communicated to the cockpit when ready for startup, and that the danger areas around the engines are clear of FOD, personnel, and equipment.
  • Arrange and ensure proper allocation of aircraft parking bays based on their type and size, and make proper parking arrangements for VIP flights.
  • Take charge of apron operations, including overseeing, controlling, and directing towing/push-back operations, ensuring visual contact with the tug operator, cockpit, and wing/tail walkers.
  • Direct wing walkers to remove chocks once the cockpit has confirmed that the aircraft brakes are set.
  • Ensure safe operations of equipment around the aircraft comply with all ICAO, IATA, and TCAA Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Receive flight information from air traffic controllers and disseminate it to airport users for announcements and the development of the daily mayfly.
  • Effectively disseminate technical information concerning aircraft parking to airlines, ground handlers, and controllers.
  • Monitor apron safety rules (such as wearing reflectors, safety boots, ear guards, and proper parking of equipment) to ensure compliance with apron safety operating procedures.
  • Report accidents/incidents on the airside and apron using the relevant forms immediately after being reported by the assistant marshaller.
  • Inspect AVOP licenses of all drivers operating on the airside at all times.
  • Track flight movements in the system at all times, and record and maintain all aircraft and passenger movement data in the logbook.
  • Prepare and submit daily working reports before handing over the shift.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Education and experience

Holder of Diploma in one of the following fields; Statistics, Business Administration / Commerce
majoring in Finance or Accounting, Banking or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
and should have computer knowledge. The candidate must have attended Apron Management
course.
