Position details:
An excellent opportunity exists for an individual to join the Finance Department as Head of Finance. This is a full-time position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing financial management functions, including general accounting, treasury, fixed assets, payroll, accounts payable, and tax compliance. Additionally, the role will encompass planning and budgeting functions, such as budgets, forecasts, feasibility studies, and business plans.
The Head of Finance will ensure the maintenance and implementation of strong internal controls, safeguarding the integrity of all financial records and ensuring the credibility of financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial management functions (general accounting, treasury, payroll, accounts payable, tax compliance).
- Lead the planning and budgeting functions, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, feasibility studies, and business plans.
- Ensure strong internal controls and financial record integrity.
- Manage working capital, tax compliance, financial planning, reporting, analysis, and grant budgets.
- Supervise accounting functions and lead external statutory audits.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional qualifications in ACCA, CPA(T), ACA, ACMA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce or related field.
- Five or more years of experience working in reputable organizations.
- Strong exposure to general accounting, working capital management, tax compliance, external audits, financial planning, and reporting.
- Supervisory skills and experience leading teams.
- Excellent command of verbal and written English.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS, IAS, and their applications.
