Position: Account Assistant

MATANGAZO YA KAZI BOFYA HAPA

As an Accounts Assistant, your role will involve providing administrative support to the Finance Manager by performing various clerical duties, including filing, managing mail, making phone calls, handling petty cash, responding to emails, and assisting with basic bookkeeping tasks.

Job Purpose

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for assisting the finance team with basic bookkeeping and accounting tasks such as maintaining financial records, reconciling incoming and outgoing financial documents, managing fixed assets and tracking expenses, and overall improving the accounting processes in the company.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring daily communications and answering any queries
  • Withholding Tax deductions and uploading the same in the TRA System
  • Ensuring payments, amounts and records are correct
  • Working with spreadsheets, sales and purchase ledgers and journals
  • Recording and filing cash transactions
  • Managing fixed assets and maintaining fixed asset register
  • Maintaining accurate invoice processing and filing
  • Petty cash and expenses reconciliation on a daily, weekly basis
  • Liaising with third party providers, clients and suppliers with a spending working environment i.e. TRA
  • Updating and maintaining procedural documentation
  • Writing & issuing cheques and TISS forms as and when required
  • Proper reconciliation of dealership invoices and accounts
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work experience of 2-3 years as an Accounts Assistant or Accounting Clerk/ Diploma in Accounting or degree focused on accounting/ business administration/ finance/ economics
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures
  • Familiarity with finance regulations
  • Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors
  • Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software
  • Organization skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
