The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange PLC (DSE Plc) was founded in 1996 as a company limited by guarantee, without share capital. In June 2015, it transitioned into a public company limited by shares, and in July 2016, it became self-listed. The main role of DSE is to provide a platform for trading listed securities and assist companies in raising capital through the issuance of shares and bonds.
The governance structure of the DSE is based on three key pillars. The highest level is the General Meeting of the company’s shareholders. The annual general meeting (AGM) is a yearly event where the company’s Directors present the annual report, which outlines the company’s performance and strategy.
This meeting serves as the final authority in DSE’s governance framework. In the bonds market, the DSE lists various Treasury bonds with maturities ranging from 2 to 25 years, as well as corporate bonds.
