The East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) is a regional organization established in 1974 to promote cooperation aimed at strengthening health programs and improving health standards across its member countries. The ECSA-HC member states include Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Decisions made by these member states are executed by the Secretariat, led by a Director General and based in Arusha, Tanzania. The Secretariat carries out its activities through four main clusters: Family Health and Infectious Disease, Health Systems Strengthening and Capacity Development, Knowledge Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, and NCDs, Food Security, and Nutrition.
The East, Central, and Southern Africa College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ECSACOG) is a training institution that specializes in educating obstetricians and gynecologists within the region. It also includes the East, Central, and Southern Africa association of Gynecological Societies and is an affiliate of the East, Central, and Southern Africa College of Health Sciences.
