The Karimjee family introduced the Toyota Limited brand to Tanzania through International Motor Mart. The holding company, Karimjee Jivanjee Ltd, has a long and established presence in East Africa, dating back to 1825 when they first arrived as traders from Cutch, India, to Zanzibar. In 1965, International Motor Mart became the official Toyota distributor. The company changed its name to Toyota Tanzania in 2000.
In 2015, Toyota Tanzania celebrated its 50th anniversary as the official distributor in the country. Today, the company continues to focus on customer satisfaction, adapting to meet the evolving and unique needs of its clients. In 2013, Toyota Tanzania became the dealer for Case IH Agriculture, and it also provides after-sales support for the Daihatsu brand.
This expansion has allowed the company to offer a broader range of vehicle solutions across various market segments. Additionally, in 2012, Toyota Tanzania launched Salute Finance Ltd, a new division for leasing and fleet management.
