Dangote Cement Our 3.0Mta plant in Mtwara, located about 400km from Dar es Salaam, was commissioned in December 2015 and is the largest cement plant in Tanzania. With approximately 500 million tonnes of limestone reserves, sufficient for the next 149 years, the facility is capable of producing large quantities of high-quality 32.5 and 42.5 grade cements to cater to local market demands at competitive prices, as well as to surrounding export markets via sea.

Despite Tanzania’s population of around 42 million, its per-capita cement consumption of about 50kg annually is significantly below the global average and even low by African standards. Tanzania’s economy is projected to grow by about 7.0% over the next five years, driven by the manufacturing, mining, and tourism sectors. This economic growth has led to a surge in cement demand, and the outlook remains positive, given the direct link between economic growth and cement consumption.
