Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) is seeking qualified candidates to apply for positions in the research project titled Strengthening Post Crash Care in Tanzania (SPRINT project), which is funded by a World Health Organization (WHO) research grant to the Department of Emergency Medicine. The SPRINT project aims to enhance post-crash care and outcomes for victims of Road Traffic Injuries (RTIs) by improving the abilities of first responders and hospitals to treat these patients.
The project will implement and evaluate the effectiveness of six components from the WHO emergency care toolkit in both pre-hospital and hospital settings along the busy A7 highway that connects the northern and southern regions of Tanzania. By strengthening post-crash care, the project seeks to reduce preventable deaths, prevent lifelong disabilities, and improve the outcomes for RTI victims.
Additionally, the adoption of a standardized trauma form will contribute to the creation of a national trauma registry, aiding in assessment, quality improvement initiatives, and providing evidence for decision-making by policymakers and relevant authorities.
