The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project is a Midstream development spanning Uganda and Tanzania, featuring a nearshore Marine Storage and Export Terminal (MST). Upon completion, EACOP will operate a 1,443 km electrically heated crude oil pipeline, transporting oil from Kabaale – Hoima in Uganda to the Chongoleani Peninsula near Tanga Port in Tanzania, for export to international markets.
The pipeline’s construction, along with the Tilenga and Kingfisher projects, will provide significant economic benefits to both Uganda and Tanzania. These benefits include tax revenue for the governments, job creation, national content, infrastructure development, logistics improvements.
Skills and technology transfer, and enhanced trade relations between the two countries. During the construction phase, which will last 2-3 years, the project will create temporary employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled professionals, as well as casual labor sourced locally from the surrounding districts.
