ActionAid Tanzania (AATZ) is a development organization dedicated to promoting social justice, gender equality, and the elimination of poverty. It began its operations in Tanzania in 1998 as a cross-border initiative by ActionAid Kenya, later becoming a full country program in 2000. Our Vision: A Tanzania free from poverty, injustice, and inequality, where everyone has the right to live with dignity.
Our Mission: To eliminate poverty, inequality, and injustice by collaborating with people experiencing poverty and exclusion, alongside their institutions, partners, allies, social movements, and supporters. We recognize that young people make up the largest portion of society, but their needs are often overlooked, and their potential is not fully realized. Our development programs are implemented across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
At the local level, we have long-term commitments through district-based Local Rights Programs, where we engage directly with communities and local partners in Mafia, Unguja, Pemba, Kilwa, Tandahimba, Newala, Chamwino, and Singida. In other districts, like Kilosa and Mbozi, we work with local partners. As an equal opportunity employer, we encourage all qualified candidates to apply.
