The Foundation for Civil Society (FCS) is a Tanzanian independent not-for-profit development organization that offers grants and capacity-building support to civil society organizations (CSOs) based in Tanzania. It is currently one of the largest and primary sources of funding for Tanzanian CSOs, thus enabling these organizations and citizens to play a key role in promoting democratic governance and improving the quality of life for all.
FCS acts as an intermediary support mechanism for Tanzanian CSOs, helping them effectively participate in poverty reduction efforts that complement the government and development partners’ initiatives, as outlined in Tanzania’s Vision 2025 and the Five-Year Development Plan 2016-2020.
FCS’s mission is to contribute to sustainable and inclusive development in Tanzania by strengthening capabilities and sharing resources, working through strategic partnerships with CSOs, community groups, and other development stakeholders.
