The University of Iringa (UOI), formerly Tumaini University at Iringa, is a legally recognized private institution in Tanzania. It operates under the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania – Iringa Diocese’s trusteeship. While the University does not discriminate based on religion in student admissions or staff recruitment, it is guided by Christian principles and advocates for the rights of its employees and associated organizations.
UOI offers certificates and diplomas in non-degree programs, undergraduate bachelor’s degrees, and postgraduate degrees in various fields, including Theology and Missions, Business and Economics, Law, Psychology, Science and Education, and Arts and Social Sciences. Additionally, the University runs two practical institutes—Microfinance and the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation—to align with national needs.
