The Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) is a professional association for legal practitioners in Tanzania Mainland, established in 1954 through the Tanganyika Law Society Ordinance, an act of parliament.
TLS is dedicated to promoting the rule of law, improving legal standards, and advocating for justice accessibility. We are currently looking for skilled and motivated professionals to fill the following positions:
Assistant Accountant (Accounts Payable)
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Reports to: Senior Accountant
Position: 1
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor compliance with TLS financial policies and procedures.
- Review all payable documents for completeness, validity, and accuracy before processing payments.
- Ensure timely processing of supplier payments based on reconciled invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to authorized levels.
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash, ensuring expenditures align with TLS financial policies.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and expenditure reports.
- Support external and internal audit functions by providing necessary documentation.
Key Qualifications & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or its equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in accounts payable roles.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
