The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange PLC (DSE Plc) was founded in 1996 as a company limited by guarantee, without share capital. In June 2015, it transitioned into a public company limited by shares, and in July 2016, it became self-listed.
The DSE’s main function is to provide a platform for trading listed securities and support companies in raising capital through the issuance of shares and bonds. The governance of the DSE is based on three main pillars. The highest authority is the General Meeting of the company’s shareholders, which convenes annually. During the Annual General Meeting (AGM), the company’s directors present the annual report, outlining the company’s performance and strategy.
This meeting serves as the final level in the DSE’s governance structure. In the bond market, the DSE lists various Treasury bonds with maturities ranging from 2 to 25 years, as well as corporate bonds. The organization is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages all qualified individuals to apply for job openings.
