The Toyota Limited brand was brought to Tanzania by the Karimjee family through their company, International Motor Mart. The parent company, Karimjee Jivanjee Ltd, has deep roots in East Africa, dating back to 1825 when they arrived as traders from Cutch, India, settling in Zanzibar. In 1965, International Motor Mart became the official distributor of Toyota vehicles. The company was renamed Toyota Tanzania in 2000. In 2015, it marked 50 years of representing Toyota in the country.
Toyota Tanzania remains dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction and evolving to meet the diverse and changing needs of its clients. In 2013, the company expanded into agricultural machinery as the official dealer for Case IH Agriculture and continues to provide after-sales service for the Daihatsu brand.
These additions have enhanced the company’s ability to serve various market segments with a broader range of vehicle solutions. In 2012, Toyota Tanzania also launched Salute Finance Ltd, a division focused on leasing and fleet management.
