Nafasi za kazi Halmashauri. Temeke District Council is one of the five municipalities that constitute Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s commercial capital. Established on November 10, 1999, under the Local Government (Urban Authorities) Act of 1982, Temeke covers an area of 240 square kilometers, including a 5-kilometer stretch along the Indian Ocean coastline. The district is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, Mkuranga District to the south, Ilala Municipality to the northwest, and Kigamboni Municipality to the north-east. As of the 2022 census, Temeke has a population of approximately 1.37 million people, making it one of the most populous districts in Tanzania.

The district comprises 23 wards and is a significant hub for trade, industry, and infrastructure, housing Dar es Salaam’s port, major sports stadiums, and the Julius Nyerere International Airport.Economically, Temeke is a vital center for manufacturing and commerce. It hosts over 2,350 registered enterprises, including large-scale industries such as Serengeti Breweries Limited and numerous timber processing businesses.

The district also benefits from robust transportation links, including the Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) and the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA), facilitating regional trade. In the 2025/26 fiscal year, the Temeke Municipal Council approved a budget of 172 billion Tanzanian shillings, allocating 70% to development projects such as constructing inclusive schools, building hospitals, upgrading road infrastructure, and expanding loan programs for residents. These initiatives aim to improve public services and address key challenges in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
