NBC Bank Limited is Tanzania’s oldest bank, with over 50 years of experience in the financial sector. It provides a wide array of services, including retail, business, corporate, and investment banking, along with wealth management solutions. The bank was established in 1967 following the nationalization of financial institutions by the Tanzanian Government.
After reforms in the banking sector in 1991, major changes occurred, and in 2000, Absa Group Limited, a leading South African financial services provider, acquired a majority stake in NBC. The Tanzanian Government retained a 30% share, while the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, acquired a 15% stake. The institution was renamed NBC Limited.
Today, NBC offers convenient banking services through a network of over 200 ATMs across the country, supported by robust internet and mobile banking platforms, enabling customers to bank anytime and anywhere.
