The Legal Services Facility (LSF), headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, operates as a basket fund dedicated to promoting access to justice for all, with a particular focus on women and girls, using a legal empowerment approach. LSF implements its mission across the entire United Republic of Tanzania by providing equal opportunity grants to local organizations that offer legal aid, paralegal services, and justice access.
These services help uphold and protect the rights of individuals and communities, addressing grievances and contributing to the development of a just society. To fulfill its mandate, LSF engages in both direct program implementation and the sub-granting of funds to organizations involved in legal aid, women’s socio-economic empowerment, criminal justice, alternative dispute resolution, and broader access to justice initiatives across both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
