The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange PLC (DSE Plc) was founded in 1996 as a company limited by guarantee, operating without share capital. In June 2015, it transitioned into a public company limited by shares and went on to self-list in July 2016. The main role of the DSE includes offering a trading platform for listed securities and supporting companies in raising capital through the issuance of shares and bonds.
The DSE’s governance framework is based on three key components, with the General Meeting of shareholders at the top. This includes the Annual General Meeting (AGM), held once a year, where the company’s directors present the annual report outlining performance and strategic direction. The AGM represents the highest authority in the DSE’s governance hierarchy.
On the bonds side, the exchange lists various Treasury bonds with maturities ranging from 2 to 25 years, as well as corporate bonds. The DSE promotes equal employment opportunities and encourages all qualified applicants to apply for available positions.
