Job vacancies at UDSM, June 2025

The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM New Vacancies) is the oldest and most prestigious public university in Tanzania. Located about 13 kilometers west of central Dar es Salaam, the university spans 1,625 acres on the scenic Observation Hill, locally known as Mlimani. UDSM was founded on October 25, 1961, originally as the University College Dar es Salaam (UCD), affiliated with the University of London.

Initially, it operated out of Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) buildings on Lumumba Street until 1964, when it moved to its current location. At the time of its founding, the college had only one faculty—Law—and just 13 students, including one woman, Julie Manning. In 1963, it became part of the University of East Africa alongside Makerere University College (Uganda) and Nairobi University College (Kenya).
