Position: Network Infrastructure System Administrator
Reporting to: ICT Manager
Organization: Mwalimu Commercial Bank
Role Summary:
Under the supervision of the ICT Manager, the Network Infrastructure System Administrator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and securing the bank’s network systems. The role ensures optimal network performance, high availability, and protection from cyber threats, aligning with the organization’s operational and compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage LAN/WAN networks, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems.
- Monitor network performance and ensure preparedness for disaster recovery.
- Implement and manage network security protocols and solutions.
- Maintain network hardware, perform firmware upgrades, and document setups.
- Identify and resolve issues related to connectivity and network latency.
- Liaise with vendors to support network scalability and operational stability.
- Provide technical support to users and ensure adherence to IT security practices.
- Enforce cybersecurity protocols and standards across the organization.
- Continuously monitor for vulnerabilities and network intrusions.
- Ensure alignment with ISO 27001, NIST, or other applicable standards.
- Assist with audits and maintain records of incidents and corrective actions.
- Meet service level agreements (SLAs) regarding system uptime and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with external service providers to uphold performance standards.
- Report regularly on network security status and system performance.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and deliver end-user support.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in network administration or cybersecurity.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, or Fortinet NSE are advantageous.
- Proficient in network protocols, VLANs, firewalls, and security technologies.
