Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) is a public university located in Morogoro, Tanzania, nestled on the slopes of the Uluguru Mountains. Renowned for its specialized programs, SUA offers a wide range of courses in fields such as Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Forestry, Animal Science, Wildlife Management, Tourism Management, Environmental Science, Food Science, Natural Resources, Nutrition, and Rural Development.
The university’s location, at an elevation of approximately 500 to 600 meters above sea level, benefits from an annual rainfall of 600 to 1000 millimeters, creating an ideal environment for its agricultural and environmental studies. The university’s extensive land holdings support its mission of training, research, and production, including 3,350 hectares in Morogoro municipality, 840 hectares of forest land in Arusha, 320 hectares of virgin forest in the Usambara Mountains of Tanga, and 500 hectares of miombo woodlands in Kitulanghalo within the Morogoro region.
