Drive public transit buses for DART Phase II (Mbagala) with a focus on safety, efficiency, and respectful service. Key duties include inspecting the bus, assisting passengers, handling emergencies, and delivering high-quality service that meets MOFAT company standards.
Qualifications:
- Valid PSV (Passenger Service Vehicle) license – Class C or its equivalent
- At least 3 years of experience in public or commercial transportation
- Certification from NIT or VETA
- Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics is an advantage
- Experience in customer service or public interaction is desirable
- Strong communication and people skills
- Good knowledge of Dar es Salaam roads and traffic regulations
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Main Driving Duties:
- Operate BRT buses on assigned routes, following scheduled times and safety rules
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws and company procedures
- Maintain consistent and punctual service at all bus stops
Additional Duties:
- Passenger Support: Welcome passengers on board and provide assistance to elderly or disabled riders
- Travel Information: Offer route guidance and handle minor passenger concerns politely
- Bus Checks: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, etc.)
- Issue Reporting: Notify the maintenance team of any mechanical problems immediately
- Emergency Response: Handle situations like breakdowns, medical incidents, or road accidents calmly and appropriately
- Cleanliness: Keep the driver’s area tidy and report any cleanliness or maintenance issues inside the bus
- Communication: Stay in touch with the control center about delays, route adjustments, or emergencies
- Record-Keeping: Fill out trip sheets, incident forms, and any required documents as per company policies
