Job Function (Fixed Term Contract):

Organize, supervise and oversee the electrical and mechanical repair and maintenance of Facility of Terminal maintained with adherence to standards defined for safety, quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to safety and discipline
  • Supervise and assist technicians in carrying out maintenance repairs, fault finding and monitoring of equipment
  • Provide job assistance and guidance to technicians
  • Ensure maximum operational availability of equipment by supervising and assisting with diagnostics and specifying repair methods to be carried out by a group of skilled technicians
  • Carry out duties independently upon call out and allocate jobs to technicians and report breakdowns and faults
  • Ensure that emergency work is followed by reporting to the Engineer
  • Ensure that all preventive maintenance is conducted as defined in the system
  • Ensure that technician’s complete documentation and paperwork (filling details in hard copies of work order) for repair and maintenance work. Details about start time, end time and maintenance and repair activity need to be filled with by technician on hard copy of the work order
  • Ensure accurate, up to date information is provided in the work order for input into the system
  • Ensure that work order is generated (in coordination with planning clerk) for all work performed by technicians
  • Ensure that start time and end time is recorded in the system
  • Measure deviations and ascertain reasons for the same
  • Track cost of each maintenance activity by recording in the system in work order – No of technicians, Spare parts used/ replaced, etc., Time taken
  • Encourage the concept of corrective maintenance amongst technicians and operators

Qualifications Required:

  • Mandatory: Diploma / Higher Diploma in mechanical / electrical engineering.
  • Preferable: Graduate / bachelor’s in mechanical / electrical engineering.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Experience in container in seaport and/ or heavy equipment environment: Preferably 3 to 5 years
  • Experience in supervisory role: Preferable: 1 to 2 years
  • Preferable experience in working on heavy equipment in ports, mining, steel industries
  • 3-5 years of professional experience preferably gained in Ports and Terminal
  • Extensive Knowledge in Facility maintenance programs, HV substations, is must with good troubleshooting skill.
  • Good Knowledge of Hydraulic systems, Diesel Engines, Lubricants & other mechanical systems.
  • Experience of electrical systems of land equipment.
  • Conversant with technical/ parts manuals, and drawings
  • Fully conversant with safety procedures
