Job vacancies at Amref, January 2025
Amref Health Africa, a non-profit public health organization, has been supporting Tanzania’s government since 1987 to tackle various public health challenges, including maternal and child health, HIV, TB, malaria, and nutrition.
Through funding from The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) via CDC Tanzania, Amref is working on a comprehensive HIV care and treatment project designed to help achieve the 95-95-95 goals and control the HIV epidemic in Tanzania. This initiative, called Afya Thabiti, was launched in October 2023 and operates in Mara, Simiyu, and Zanzibar, providing facility and community-based prevention (including VMMC), care, and treatment services.
The project collaborates closely with the Tanzania Ministry of Health, the Zanzibar Ministry of Health, and the President’s Office Regions Authority and Local Government (PORALG). Since January 2022, Amref has implemented 19 projects across 25 regions in mainland Tanzania and all regions of Zanzibar, with over 57% of these projects focused on the Lake Zone and 16% on Zanzibar.
