CEFA (European Committee for Training and Agriculture) is an Italian NGO that has been operating in Tanzania since 1975. Over the past four decades, CEFA has focused on fostering sustainable development, particularly through integrated rural development projects in the Southern Highlands.
In its “Improving income and nutrition of smallholder tea farmers in Southern Tanzania” initiative, CEFA collaborates with IDH – The Sustainable Trade Initiative, the Tea Research Institute of Tanzania (TRIT), and the Tanzania Smallholder Tea Development Agency (TSHTDA). CEFA, also known as The Seed of Solidarity, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to combating hunger and poverty for 50 years.
It works to help the world’s poorest communities achieve food self-sufficiency and uphold fundamental rights, including education, work, health, gender equality, and freedom of expression. CEFA’s mission is sustainable development, empowering local populations to take charge of their own progress.
