The Foundation for Civil Society (FCS) is a Tanzanian independent, non-profit development organization that offers grants and capacity-building support to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) based in Tanzania. As one of the largest and primary funding sources for Tanzanian CSOs, FCS plays a key role in empowering CSOs and citizens to drive positive change in democratic governance and improve the quality of life in the country.
FCS serves as an intermediary support mechanism, helping CSOs effectively participate in poverty reduction efforts that complement government and Development Partners’ initiatives outlined in Tanzania’s main development plans, including Vision 2025 and the Five Year Development Plan 2016-2020.
Its mission is to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Tanzania by strengthening capabilities and sharing resources through strategic partnerships with CSOs, community groups, and other development stakeholders.
