Position: Head of Procurement

Job Summary:

The Head of Procurement will be a key figure in shaping and implementing Wasoko’s commercial strategy. This leadership role calls for an experienced professional with a solid background in commercial and business development, especially in the logistics and technology industries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, managing important client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute the procurement strategy aligned with the overall business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align commercial strategies with operational capabilities.

Business Development:

  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and pursuit of new business opportunities.
  • Build strategic partnerships with key clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Drive the development and implementation of innovative solutions to meet client needs.

Revenue Generation:

  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to optimize revenue and profitability.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, identifying areas for improvement and growth.
  • Work closely with the sales team to achieve revenue targets and foster a high-performance culture.

Contract Negotiation and Management:

  • Lead negotiations of commercial agreements, ensuring favorable terms for the organization.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to review, draft, and execute contracts and agreements.
  • Establish and maintain solid contractual relationships with clients and partners.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing procurement l team, providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the Procurement department.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with other departments to achieve overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Experience in E-commerce B2C or Traditional Trade background (FMCGs/Telecom etc.) Preferred.
  • Startup experience is a plus
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens
