The Community Wildlife Management Area Consortium (CWMAC) is a key organization in Tanzania that unites Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) across the country. Founded in 2010, CWMAC serves as the national umbrella group for WMA Authorized Associations, providing a platform for sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices among local communities involved in wildlife conservation. Its main objective is to enhance the capacity of these communities to manage their natural resources and protect biodiversity while benefiting from the sustainable use of wildlife resources.

The consortium works to empower local communities to play an active role in conservation, making it possible for them to generate income through eco-tourism, wildlife-related enterprises, and community-driven conservation activities. CWMAC is also a strong advocate for policies that support community-led conservation efforts. The organization collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and the private sector, to strengthen the impact of conservation initiatives.
