NMB Bank Plc is one of Tanzania’s leading commercial banks, offering a range of banking services to individuals, small and medium-sized businesses, government entities, large corporations, and agricultural lending. Established in 1997 under the National Microfinance Bank Limited Incorporation Act, following the division of the former National Bank of Commerce by an Act of Parliament, three new entities were formed.

The bank operates 226 branches, over 9,000 agents (Wakala), and more than 700 ATMs nationwide, with a presence in every district of Tanzania. NMB serves over 4 million customers and employs more than 3,400 staff members.
It is listed on the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange, with the largest shareholders being Arise B.V., holding 34.9%, and the Government of Tanzania with a 31.8% share. NMB was recognized by Euromoney as the “Best Bank in Tanzania” for eight consecutive years, from 2013 to 2020.
