Job vacancies at MITU, February 2025
The Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit (MITU) is a collaborative research unit located at the National Institute for Medical Research campus in Mwanza, Tanzania. MITU’s mission is to improve health by developing and evaluating interventions for HIV and other health issues through high-quality research, including clinical trials, in line with international standards.
The unit aims to enhance the capacity for conducting such research in Tanzania and the broader East African region while contributing to translating research findings into health policies. MITU envisions becoming a world-leading center for HIV prevention and treatment research, as well as for research on other health issues. In partnership with local and international organizations, MITU seeks to improve health across the East African region.
Currently, MITU is working with international research partners on a cohort study involving 500 HIV-infected adults and 500 HIV-negative adults. This five-year research program aims to explore the relationship between sleep, autonomic nervous system activity, and 24-hour blood pressure variability within the cohort.
