Bulyanhulu, located in northwest Tanzania’s Kahama district in the Shinyanga region, lies about 55 kilometers south of Lake Victoria and 150 kilometers southwest of Mwanza. Bulyanhulu is a narrow-vein gold mine, with gold, silver, and copper deposits found in sulphide-rich mineralization, associated with steeply-dipping veins. Commercial production at Bulyanhulu began in 2001.
The North Mara Gold Mine is situated in northwest Tanzania, within the Tarime district of the Mara region, approximately 100 kilometers east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometers south of the Kenyan border. North Mara began commercial production in 2002. The Barrick Gold Mine Tanzania operates a combination of open-pit and underground mining from two deposits: Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open-pit).
