Position Title: Executive Secretary

About FADev
The Foundation for ASM Development (FADev) is an independent NGO committed to fostering inclusive dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaborative action among stakeholders in the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector.
Position Overview:
The Executive Secretary will play a key leadership role, guiding the organization in line with its mission and strategic vision. This role involves managing programs, building partnerships, advocating for small-scale miners, and ensuring effective governance and organizational performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership in alignment with FADev’s mission and long-term goals.
- Direct the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs and projects.
- Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, mining associations, NGOs, and communities.
- Serve as FADev’s representative in national and international platforms, promoting the interests and rights of small-scale miners.
- Lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts, including writing proposals and reporting.
- Ensure robust governance, financial management, and regulatory compliance.
- Recruit, develop, and manage a diverse, high-performing team while promoting an inclusive and goal-driven culture.
- Support the Governing Council and General Assembly in governance, reporting, and compliance matters.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geosciences, Natural Resource Management, Business Administration, Sociology, or Development Studies. A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- At least five years of progressive leadership experience, ideally within the mining, environmental, or non-profit sectors.
- In-depth understanding of ASM sector issues, including policy, environmental, and social dimensions.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and fundraising skills.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili.
