POSITION: RESEARCH ASSISTANTS

Job Summary:

We are looking for Research Assistants to support field operations for ongoing research studies. Responsibilities include—but are not limited to—data collection, cleaning, coding, translation, participant engagement, planning fieldwork, obtaining informed consent, stakeholder mapping, and mobilizing community participants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help organize logistics for participant recruitment and mobilization
• Assist in resolving challenges encountered during field operations
• Attend all training sessions conducted by IFS
• Support community engagement initiatives
• Introduce the study to participants and obtain informed consent
• Participate in reviewing and pre-testing research tools (surveys, FGDs, KIIs)
• Facilitate focus group discussions and conduct key informant interviews
• Collect data while maintaining high standards for quality, ethics, and safety (including COVID-19 protocols)
• Write summaries of interviews and FGDs; document and report fieldwork in coordination with the Project Leader
• Transcribe and translate qualitative data; assist with data cleaning and coding
• Ensure all data collected is accurate, complete, and kept confidential

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates should meet the following criteria:

• At least a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Monitoring & Evaluation, or a related field
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in quantitative or mixed-methods research, including the use of mobile data collection tools (smartphones/tablets)
• Skills in data coding, transcription, and translation are a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Proficiency in digital data collection
• Familiarity with research ethics and obtaining informed consent
• Ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
