The Aga Khan Foundation, in collaboration with TGNP and with support from the Irish Embassy in Tanzania, is looking for a passionate and dedicated Project Assistant to join the core team of the Tuinuke Pamoja Project—a transformative effort focused on advancing gender equality in the Dodoma region.
Position: Project Assistant
The Project Assistant will be instrumental in assisting with the coordination, execution, and monitoring of project activities at the community level. The role involves close engagement with local community groups, Local Government Authorities (LGAs), and other stakeholders to enhance gender equality, encourage inclusive participation—especially among women, youth, and persons with disabilities—and ensure effective, timely implementation of project initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Support identification, engagement, and capacity-building of grassroots groups.
- Facilitate and monitor project activities at the district and community levels.
- Collaborate with LGAs, TGNP, AKF, and stakeholders to drive project impact.
- Assist with data collection, MERL activities, and field visits coordination.
- Promote gender mainstreaming and inclusivity across all project interventions.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Community Development, social studies, Gender, or any other related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the field to promote gender equality activities through engaging with grassroot groups, community and LGAs and other community structures and resources.
- At least two years’ experience in working with Grassroot Groups, in implementation of gender equality focussed activities.
- Ability in designing community mobilization, sensitization and awareness raising activities for Gender equality.
- Ability to effectively collect and use data.
Good written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize workload. - Self-motivated, good organization and management skills.
- Ability to work with multiple tasks, demands and deadlines, with a positive and constructive attitude under minimal supervision.
- Able to work independently and within a team.
- Ability and desire to engage with communities and to support grassroot groups to undertake their activities.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Kiswahili.
- Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and Power Point and other relevant applications
- Sound understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural contexts in Dodoma, with the ability to adapt approaches accordingly.
- Good knowledge and understanding of gender and social inclusion issues and experience of delivering programmes that explicitly address inequalities
- Good knowledge and understanding of child and community safe-guarding issues
