Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Day-to-Day Farm & Hatchery Operations:
    • Support daily aquaculture production tasks, including fish feeding, fish handling, fingerling and egg collection, and harvesting activities.
    • Assist in the operation, regular inspection, and basic maintenance of cage systems, hatchery equipment, and farm infrastructure.
  • Water Quality & Environmental Monitoring:
    • Conduct routine water quality testing, environmental parameter monitoring, and data logging under supervision.
    • Perform field, laboratory, and lake-based sampling activities according to established schedules.
  • Data Management & Operational Compliance:
    • Record accurate operational, environmental, biological, and production data for reporting and analysis.
    • Strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workplace safety protocols, and environmental guidelines.
    • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, technicians, and operations personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Aquatic Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: No prior professional experience required (recent graduates welcomed; any practical internship experience is an added advantage).
  • Technical Skills & Competencies:
    • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
    • Good problem-solving abilities, observational skills, and strong practical aptitude.
    • Comfortable working outdoors and in lake-based operational environments.
  • Language & Personal Attributes:
    • Fluency in both spoken and written Swahili and English.
    • Strong willingness to learn, adapt across diverse operational tasks, and build a long-term career in aquaculture.
