TAHISCO Job Vacancies October 2026 – 18 Vacancies
TAHISCO has announced new job vacancies for qualified Tanzanians to fill 18 vacant positions. The vacancies have been advertised through the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS), and successful applicants will be employed by TASHICO.

1. Deck Officer II – 10 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the safe operation of the vessel.
- Participating in bridge operations.
- Assisting in preparing watch assignments.
- Participating in fire and boat drills.
- Participating in emergency situations.
- Assisting in maintaining records of stores and equipment.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) together with a Certificate of Competence for Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OINW) on ships of 500 GRT or more under Regulation II/1.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Transportation, Maritime Transport or Nautical Science will be an added advantage.
Salary Scale: MSCS 5
2. Marine Engineer II – 5 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Participate in the operation and maintenance of propulsion and electrical systems aboard the vessel.
- Assist in inspecting and maintaining equipment.
- Report malfunctions and assist with adjustments or repairs.
- Record fuel and lubricant consumption.
- Ensure applicable marine engineering rules and regulations are followed during watchkeeping.
- Maintain the vessel’s logbook.
- Participate in emergency operations.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold CSEE or ACSEE together with a Class 4 Certificate of Competence (COC).
A Bachelor Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or another related field will be an added advantage.

3. Ordinary Sailor II – 3 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will perform duties including:
- Maintaining general cleanliness of the vessel.
- Ensuring equipment and work areas are clean.
- Maintaining rescue boats.
- Standing lookout watch.
- Performing painting work on the vessel.
- Directing loading and offloading of cargo.
- Performing lashing and rope work.
- Performing laundry duties.
- Maintaining gangway watch to prevent unauthorized boarding.
- Responding as an emergency team member.
- Assisting with passenger problems.
- Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants should have CSEE or ACSEE and must possess the required Basic Mandatory Certificates under STCW95, Rating Forming Part of Navigation Watch (RFPNW), and at least one year of relevant sea service.
Salary Scale: MSCS 2.1
