ALAF Limited Tanzania, originally established in October 1960 as Aluminium Africa Limited, was created to develop an aluminum-steel industrial complex in Tanzania. Over the decades, it has grown into a leading manufacturer of steel roofing and related building materials across the country. In 2010, ALAF adopted aluminium‑zinc coated steel technology, producing roof sheets with significantly longer lifecycles compared to traditional galvanized steel.
The company has been at the forefront of local innovation: in 1971, it became the first in Tanzania to introduce steel tube mills; in 2012, it launched custom-sized deformed bars; and in 2013, it introduced custom Z‑purlins tailored for the local market.
Today, ALAF is part of the Safal Group, Africa’s largest producer of metal roof sheeting, with over 36 operations across the continent. In Tanzania, ALAF offers a broad portfolio that includes roofing sheets (plain and pre-painted), steel pipes, hollow sections, structural steel, cold‑rolled products, and engineering solutions.
The company holds ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2005 certifications and complies with the Tanzania Bureau of Standards. It also maintains multiple service centers and showrooms across major cities like Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Arusha, Mbeya, and Mwanza, ensuring wide accessibility and customer support across the country.
