DCB Commercial Bank PLC (Dar es Salaam Community Bank), established in 2001 and commencing operations in 2002, was the first microfinance institution in Tanzania to obtain a regional banking license and later a national commercial banking license in 2012.
It became the first bank listed on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (ticker symbol: DCB) in 2008. The bank serves individuals, SMEs, corporates, and grassroots communities with a network of around 9 branches, over 1,000 agent outlets (DCB Wakala Agents), and more than 280 Umoja ATMs, collectively serving over 3 million customers nationwide.
DCB offers a diverse range of products including savings and current accounts, education and business loans, mortgages, and digital banking services like mobile banking (DCB Pesa) and internet banking.
Its channels support local and international transfers, bill payments across utilities and telecoms, and mobile network top-ups, all with competitive pricing and low-cost accounts for youth and retirees (e.g. Young Saver, Mstaafu Savings).
Financially, during its 20th anniversary in 2022, DCB recorded strong growth: profit before tax rose to TSh 2.25 billion (an increase of 112%) backed by rising interest income and non-interest earnings, while its asset base surpassed TSh 214 billion, marking a 61% growth over five years.
