KIOO Limited is Tanzania’s leading container glass manufacturer, based in Dar es Salaam and operating since 1963. With over six decades of experience, it has grown into the largest glass producer in East and Central Africa—manufacturing containers for beverages, food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
The company supplies more than 100 customers across 17 countries, including global beverage giants, and remains the only container glass producer in Tanzania.
In 2024, KIOO secured a USD 60 million financing package—USD 45 million from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and USD 15 million from Standard Bank of South Africa—to expand its production capacity and boost exports across the region.
A key feature of this expansion is an increased use of recycled glass to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. The investment is projected to create thousands of jobs directly and indirectly, helping close a regional supply gap—currently about 40% of East and Central Africa’s glass container demand is met by imports.
