ActionAid Tanzania (AATZ) is a development organization dedicated to promoting social justice, gender equality, and the elimination of poverty. It began its operations in Tanzania in 1998 as a cross-border initiative with ActionAid Kenya and became a full Country Program in 2000.
The organization envisions a Tanzania free from poverty, injustice, and inequality, where every person has the right to live with dignity. Its mission is to combat poverty, inequality, and injustice by collaborating with marginalized communities, local institutions, partners, alliances, social movements, and supporters.
Recognizing that young people make up the largest segment of society, AATZ aims to address their unmet needs and unlock their potential. The organization runs development programs across both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, with long-term commitment in specific districts like Mafia, Unguja, Pemba, Kilwa, Tandahimba, Newala, Chamwino, and Singida.
