This role is an essential part of a team responsible for supporting the exploration, development, production, and preparation of designated mining projects/sites. It involves a camp-based position at the AMET Mine site with a fixed work schedule of 6/7. The majority of your time will be spent analyzing samples in a laboratory, where you’ll stand for extended shifts and adhere to strict safety regulations due to the use of hazardous materials.
As an Assayer, you may face tight deadlines to deliver results quickly in order to assist mine crews in maximizing production. Your responsibilities will include preparing samples from receiving to digestion, using various laboratory procedures. You should be comfortable handling acids and reagents safely.
Position: Assayer Laboratory Technician
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and label all incoming samples.
- Inspect, weigh, grade, sample, test, or refine raw and processed materials, analyzing for metals, non-metallic minerals, concentrates, waste, and air samples.
- Utilize spectrographic analysis, chemical solutions, and specialized equipment.
- Adjust analytical methods as necessary.
- Receive samples from the mine, mill, pools, and tanks.
- Conduct pre-operation equipment inspections and report any issues or maintenance needs to supervisors or colleagues.
- Maintain and monitor analytical equipment.
- Keep work areas and equipment clean and organized.
- Complete inspection/test reports.
- Assist with environmental audits and contribute to the development of waste management and environmental protection procedures.
Requirements:
- Education: Minimum of three (3) years of Chemical Technologist Diploma.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in a mining assay lab, laboratory environment, or minerals processing.
- Knowledge of sample preparation and AAS procedures.
- Proficiency with Atomic Absorption Spectrometer “Rayleigh” – WFX-120B is required.
- Familiarity with atomic absorption spectrometers.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
