Position Overview
As the Project Officer – Youth Engagement for the BRIGHT Project, you will play a central role in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities across eight councils. Working closely with both internal teams and government stakeholders, you will help ensure effective and timely delivery of project goals. This position is critical to advancing adolescent access to integrated sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, and gender-based violence (GBV) services. You will supervise Council Coordinators, manage youth engagement strategies, and facilitate strong local partnerships. The role is based within one of the project’s implementation councils for optimal collaboration with local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight to Council Coordinators to ensure smooth implementation of BRIGHT project activities across all target areas.
- Conduct performance reviews, offer mentorship, and ensure teams are equipped with necessary tools and resources.
- Lead the development and execution of youth engagement strategies that align with the project’s gender-responsive, multi-sectoral framework.
- Promote adolescent participation in project activities and ensure access to youth-friendly health and social services.
- Collaborate with BRIGHT project officers in nutrition, adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH), gender, and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning).
- Conduct field visits to provide technical support and ensure quality implementation.
- Mentor adolescent champions in each council, empowering them to lead peer engagement initiatives.
- Work with the MEAL Officer and implementing partners to execute the project’s monitoring and evaluation plans.
- Assist in developing data collection tools and systems to track progress on SRH and nutrition outcomes.
- Contribute to the preparation of donor reports and other documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, nursing, public health, social sciences, or related fields.
- Minimum five years’ experience in adolescent and women’s health and nutrition, with a strong focus on increasing service uptake.
- At least four years’ experience with NGOs or international organizations in public health/nutrition programming.
- Strong understanding of government health, nutrition, and SRH policies and initiatives.
- Proficient in national health information systems (e.g., DHIS2) and reporting tools such as MTUHA.
- Skilled in training and mentorship of health staff at regional and council levels.
- Strong background in community mobilization, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborative, proactive, and results-driven, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
