TPC Limited, located in the Kilimanjaro region, is one of the largest sugar estates in Tanzania. Of its 16,000 hectares of land, 8,000 hectares are dedicated to sugar cane farming. Over the years, TPC Ltd has invested heavily in rehabilitating and upgrading its fields, infrastructure, and equipment.
These continuous improvements have led to a significant increase in sugar production, growing from 30,000 tonnes annually to 100,000 tonnes today. Additionally, the company has gained valuable experience and made efficiency improvements in areas such as cane varieties, fertilization, irrigation, transport, and sugar recovery.
Although TPC Ltd’s operations are now well-established and yielding positive results, the company plans to further expand sugar production by cultivating more land, introducing new cane varieties, adopting more efficient irrigation and fertilization methods, and enhancing factory recovery rates. Future development projects may include establishing a distillery to add value to molasses and extending electricity generation throughout the year by utilizing non-cane biomass in intercrops.
