ROLE PURPOSE:
This position is focused on delivering training, evaluation, and coaching to employees on safe driving practices within the mine site. The Coordinator will support the professional development of staff operating Light Vehicles, Light Trucks, Buses, and other related equipment, ensuring alignment with the company’s safety standards. Given the risks associated with mobile equipment, ensuring driver competence, proper authorization, and safety training is a key risk control measure.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Secondary school completion
- Certified Driving Instructor license
- Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License (Categories B, C, D, and E)
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a driving instructor
- Prior experience in a mining environment is a plus
ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Familiarity with training and coaching evaluation techniques
- Demonstrated ability to train and coach others effectively
- Strong ethics and respectful communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Good command of English, both written and spoken
- Excellent safety awareness and hazard recognition skills
- Time and self-management abilities
- Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
- Passion for continuous learning and adaptability

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver theoretical and hands-on vehicle operation training, including road rules and emergency driving
- Build trainees’ confidence and control skills, especially in high-risk driving situations
- Provide defensive driving and steep terrain training
- Oversee training for drivers of Light Vehicles, Light Trucks, Buses, and support equipment in line with the training matrix
- Assess driver capabilities per company standards and procedures
- Promote cost efficiency and follow company safety and ethics guidelines
- Facilitate refresher courses in accordance with company policy
- Ensure safe and secure use of training tools and company vehicles
- Maintain and utilize the Learning Management System and proper training records
- Update training content in line with any operational changes
- Encourage hazard and incident reporting to promote a safety culture
- Monitor driver performance and verify compliance with critical controls for mobile equipment
