Position: Credit Officer (Credit Administration)
Reporting To: Credit Administration Manager

The Credit Officer plays a vital role in supporting TADB’s mission by ensuring all credit documentation and processes meet compliance and quality standards. This position focuses on validating collateral, tracking loan performance, and generating timely and accurate reports to assist with sound lending decisions and effective risk management.

This role is key to preserving the integrity of the bank’s credit records, facilitating regulatory compliance, and protecting the institution’s loan portfolio in line with its broader development finance goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and validate all forms of collateral, including guarantees, bonds, stocks, and mortgage documents.
  • Ensure all interest, fees, and charges are accurately applied according to the Credit Instruction Memo or standard procedures.
  • Monitor scheduled loan repayments and follow up on payment compliance.
  • Promptly notify relevant officers of any defaults or irregularities.
  • Prepare monthly reports on all credit limits set to expire within the next three months.
  • Submit reports to the Credit Committee on transactions with missing or incomplete documentation.
  • Generate regular reports for the Bank of Tanzania and other stakeholders.
  • Submit detailed monthly reports on all underperforming accounts.
  • Maintain an updated collateral database within the bank’s system.
  • Reconcile loan repayment accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Track the use of disbursed funds to confirm they align with approved loan terms.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Banking, Finance, Economics, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data reporting and analysis.
  • Solid experience in handling credit-related tasks such as account reconciliation and tracking overdue payments.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in credit administration within a financial institution.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound financial judgment in assessing creditworthiness.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining financial and credit records.
